With years of experience, we regularly provide practical advice to financial services companies to achieve optimal tax outcomes for businesses and their products.
We have broad experience within the insurance industry, and regularly advise many other financial service companies, including banks, broker-dealers, funds, and investment advisors.
Our global presence ensures that we maintain a global outlook that is paired with the right mix of local subject matter expertise. Accordingly, we are keen observers of industry trends and are able to anticipate your needs within the various jurisdictions in which you operate or distribute products.
Our Financial Services Tax team works to further your overall business goals by closely collaborating with our colleagues in related practice groups and jurisdictions, in order to provide a seamless client experience.
We take pride in our ability to offer a complete range of legal services, eliminating the need to manage a project spread across different law firms in different jurisdictions.
Our lawyers, consultants and advisors are experienced in all aspects of the taxation of financial transactions and institutions law. Our recent experience includes advising:
- together with our Chicago and Paris offices, a Greek multinational bank and financial services company in relation to all tax, regulatory and corporate matters relevant to the long-term partnership for the management of non-core equity participations owned by the bank involving a portfolio under management with an initial perimeter of €200 million
- a major US asset management firm in relation to a required restructure for regulatory reasons, including assistance with the restructure of a UK domicile fund managed by the firm and advising on the availability of key Irish tax reliefs, the absence of which would have resulted in a substantial tax cost for the fund
- a German-based provider of software solutions in relation to the establishment of its first multi-issuance digital securitisation programme under the Irish securitisation regime, including advising on all of the tax structuring aspects of the securitisation process, along with the preparation of relevant documentation and associated tax opinions
- in connection with the provision of mezzanine financing for a pipeline of solar power projects being developed in Ireland and the UK
- a UK-based private equity house in relation to the acquisition of a specialist alternative asset management group based in Dublin. In addition to negotiating all legal and tax documentation as part of the deal, we also had to consider and resolve a number of complex, cross-border aspects prior to the deal signing
