Eversheds Sutherland recruits leading employment law specialist Euan Smith Eversheds Sutherland has today appointed employment Partner Euan Smith, marking a significant investment into the global law firm’s capability and presence in Edinburgh. An employment law specialist of over 20 years, Euan joins Eversheds Sutherland’s growing Edinburgh team from Pinsent Masons. He brings a wealth of experience of advising public and private sector employers, leading on a varied and full spectrum of employment work including immigration, internal investigations and employment tribunal matters. In addition, Euan boasts an energy sector-focus within his practice, advising oil & gas, nuclear and renewables clients on employment matters related to the transition to Net Zero. Euan’s appointment is a significant and strategic investment into Eversheds Sutherland’s employment and energy sector capability in Scotland, increasing the team’s strength and depth to manage complex matters and mandates on an international scale. His arrival also enhances the team’s wider credibility within the local market, boosting the Edinburgh team’s ongoing growth in the region. I look forward to working with Diane Gilhooley and Robert Pitcher, Partner and Eversheds Sutherland’s Co-Head of Global Energy, in building our employment and energy sector presence in Scotland.” Euan joins Eversheds Sutherland on 5 July 2021 from Pinsent Masons, where he managed the firm’s employment teams in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. He qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 1997, before qualifying in England & Wales in 2000. He has been a Partner for fifteen years, first with McGrigors and then with Pinsent Masons, following a merger between the two firms. Eversheds Sutherland is also pleased to welcome Chris Murray who joins the Edinburgh team on 5 July. Chris is a public procurement lawyer with over 15 years of experience, who joins as Legal Director. Euan follows recent investment into the region, including Steven Dick’s promotion to Partner and Alastair Frood’s lateral appointment in 2020. Key contacts
