Shehan advises on strategic technology, outsourcing and transformation projects, with a particular focus on both customers and suppliers in the financial services, technology, energy and space sectors.
He acts for leading banks, digital challengers and corporate customers, bringing a balanced perspective on market practice, regulatory expectations and commercial risk. His experience spans outsourcing (including financial services outsourcing), multijurisdictional technology projects including SaaS, licensing, maintenance, development and complex supply-chain arrangements which require alignment.
Shehan’s recent work includes advising the Securities Services division of a global bank on the first-generation outsourcing of fund order routing, settlement and safekeeping across multiple hubs and jurisdictions for assets exceeding £300bn; advising a technology supplier to a supranational bank on a SAP transformation programme; advising a leading fund investment platform on the modernisation of all their terms for their procurement needs; and supporting a UK digital bank on the replacement of a critical supplier for its retail investment platform serving over 360,000 customers.
He also advises on banking product terms, ensuring contractual and regulatory alignment across the banking supply chain, including upstream supplier compliance with PRA SS2/21, EBA Outsourcing Guidelines, Solvency II, DORA, and downstream customer compliance where needed.Shehan’s in-house experience with a global technology company for 6 years and secondment experience with multiple financial institutions (including a major mainstream UK Bank, a digital banking challenger, and a significant life insurer in the UK) gives him practical insight into the operational, legal and governance challenges of large-scale transformation and operationalising contracts.
