Michael is a Principal Associate and Solicitor-Advocate in our Commercial Dispute Resolution team in London, and a member of the firm’s International Arbitration group.
Focusing on complex, large-scale and multi-jurisdictional matters, Michael advises domestic and international clients on a broad range of disputes ranging from High Court litigation to international and investor-state arbitrations, often with a civil fraud focus.
Michael has a particular interest in industrials and energy-related disputes, having spent a six-month secondment at ExxonMobil while at his previous firm.

- acting for 1MDB and the Malaysian Minister of Finance Inc. in multi-billion dollar fraud proceedings in the High Court, Court of Appeal, and in two related LCIA arbitrations, against two Abu Dhabi Government entities, IPIC and Aabar, relating to the well-known 1MDB fraud
- acting for the Serious Fraud Office in civil proceedings brought by Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation Limited, following the SFO’s criminal investigation into ENRC
- acting for a North-African State in a $500 million investor-state arbitration against a South Korean construction company following the Arab Spring
- acting for a FTSE-100 property development company to pursue multi-million breach of contract and unlawful means conspiracy claims in relation to its developments
- acting for a desalination project company in a $700 million claim against a West-African State in concurrent ICC arbitrations seated in London and Paris
