As a TMT, Partner Grant Williams assists clients with transactions in technology and telecoms, outsourcing, and real estate and renewable energy for data centre.
Grant regularly represents technology and telecoms companies in contract negotiations and other complex corporate matters. He has also been involved in several construction contract negotiations based on the FIDIC, NEC, and JBCC range of contracts.
Grant advises clients across different sectors in respect of privacy and cybersecurity compliance, and provides practical advice on complex and evolving privacy regulations, with a focus on POPIA. His experience includes assisting with data breach response, global privacy compliance reviews, and advising on cybersecurity and privacy risks.

- together with the Eversheds Sutherland London office, assisting its client, NTT Ltd, with a global business process outsource project including assistance with the tender process, down-selection of bidders, and subsequent negotiation of outsourcing agreements, and other arrangements for the 2 successful bidders. Our team was awarded the African Legal Awards TMT Team of the Year as a result of the pivotal role it played in this matter
- providing regulatory compliance advice regarding the launching of an App in South Africa
- advising a data centre provider on the site acquisition, build, registration of servitudes on the site and adjacent land, and securing of sufficient power for three major data centres in Cape Town
- assisting client with obtaining reseller exemption under the ICASA regulations
- negotiating various agreements on behalf of a data centre provider regarding the development of an HV substation situated at the Waterfall precinct in Johannesburg
- negotiating a FIDIC Contract and related contracts for the supply, installation and commissioning of equipment for the fit-out of a data centre on behalf of our client
