Arren is an experienced Legal Director in our Real Estate Litigation group.
He advises on a wide range of real estate litigation matters and regularly acts for commercial and residential developers, land owners, corporate occupiers, utilities undertakers and local authorities.
Arren has developed utilities sector expertise, regularly acting for clients such as National Grid, Severn Trent Water and Wales & West Utilities. He advises in respect of issues such as enforcing rights of access, the use of statutory powers to secure rights over land, high value compensation claims and the use and application of street works powers.
Arren is also a recognised business rates expert, having successfully acted on some large and complex rating appeals, saving clients many millions of pounds in the process, as well as more generally advising in respect of issues such as rates mitigation measures and defending incorrect demands.

His experience includes:
- acting for a utility sector client facing a multi-million pound compensation claim and successfully reducing the claim by over £1 million
- acting for a tenant client on a dilapidations claim upon them having vacated a large mixed use warehouse and office building and successfully reducing the claim by almost half, saving almost £2 million
- successfully acting for a well-known banking client on a rating appeal of one of their flag ship branches and so securing a significant reduction in business rates and
- acting for a water sector client on the first reported decision on the correct interpretation of certain of the statutory compensation provisions and thereby successfully having the claim against the client dismissed altogether
- Arren regularly provides bespoke training to in house client teams as well speaking at seminars and conferences
- Arren is a member of the Property Litigation Association and the Compulsory Purchase Association and is recognised in both the Chambers Directory and Legal 500
