Greg works with both local and international companies combining his transactional expertise with a deep knowledge of key industry sectors including industrials, mining, property and tech.
Greg is a partner and co-head of the South African Corporate and Commercial group. With over 15 years of experience in both private practice and in-house, he primarily focuses on cross border mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and general corporate and commercial law.
During the course of his experience Greg has drafted and negotiated various commercial agreements and advised on corporate, restructuring and regulatory matters, joint ventures, competition, broad-based black economic empowerment, consumer protection, and data protection, including many complex cross-border corporate transactions and matters in the industrial, mining services, education, aviation, private equity, property and IT sectors.
Greg’s experience enables him to see the bigger picture but still ensure attention to detail to various aspects in a transaction. Greg takes a hands-on and personable approach when dealing with his clients and prides himself on consistent and effective communication with his clients, understanding their business and industry in order to provide a premium service.
Greg holds a B.A. and LLB degree and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2009. Greg has a Post Graduate Diploma in Corporate law focusing on Company, Competition and Banking and Finance law from the University of the Witwatersrand.

- advising a global mining supply provider in a complex acquisition of a South African supplier of mining equipment, for an undisclosed sum. Conducting an extensive due diligence, negotiating and securing W&I insurance, as well as drafting, negotiating and finalising the letter of intent, share purchase agreement and various ancillary agreements and obtaining Competition Tribunal approval
- advising a multinational listed commodities and mining company on its multi-million Rand complex acquisition of a strategic asset in the mining sector. The transaction included a due diligence, preliminary restructuring of the target, sale agreement (of both shares and assets) as well as Competition Commission approval
- advising the shareholders of a South African distributor in the pharmaceutical sector, of their 100% disposal of the issued share capital to a foreign acquirer based in the United States. The transaction included a vendor due diligence, South African Reserve Bank approval, Takeover regulation panel approval and various ancillary documentation (sale agreements, consultancy agreements and corporate resolutions
- advising a global leader in motion and control technologies, providing precision-engineered solutions in respect of an internal restructure including a debt capitalisation, several exchange control applications and sale agreements
- advising the South African subsidiary of an American Fortune 500 company and global supplier of paints, coatings, and specialty materials on its acquisition of a downstream distributor, including obtaining Competition Commission regulatory approvals
- advising a foreign private equity firm on the acquisition of a South African ICT security company. The transaction included an extensive due diligence, negotiation and conclusion of the sales agreement and ancillary documents (including security instruments, management service agreements and executive employment agreements) as well as South African Reserve Bank approval
- advising our client, a global agricultural chemical and seed company with its global restructuring project, involving our assisting with the internal reorganisation / structuring of multiple entities within its South African Group in terms of the Income Tax Act
- advising the Eaton Group with its internal restructure of its South African operations, including Eaton Electric's sale of its interest in Eaton Hydraulics to Eaton Truck and a subsequent debt capitalisation project
- advising a global Diversified power management company with its internal restructure of its South African operations, including sale of its interest in one of its subsidiaries and a subsequent debt capitalisation project
