Mike is a strategic contracts lawyer who has advised Industrials and Transport sector clients on some of the world's most complex commercial projects.
He has acted for clients in more than 25 countries across Europe, the US, Middle East, Africa and Asia, has in-house experience and previously worked in the Middle East.
As a Partner within Eversheds Sutherland's Strategic Contracts practice, Mike helps clients develop a range of contracting solutions, which are central to their strategic objectives and future success. He advises and negotiates on high-risk, high-profile commercial transactions where major companies or public bodies are in business-critical negotiations and where success or failure can impact share price, viability of their business or broader strategic delivery. These solutions include preparing sophisticated partnership or concession arrangements, through to adaptable supply chains that provide resilience in markets which have seen unprecedented disruption in recent years.

- a Middle Eastern client to procure an operator and maintainer for its Metro and Tram projects
- a consortium on its bid for the Singapore to Kuala Lumpur high-speed rail PPP project
- an aerospace client on a new strategic partnership project
- the winning bidder concerning its appointment to operate and maintain the California High Speed Rail project, alongside bids in other jurisdictions
- a UK Government authority on a range of rail projects
- a transport infrastructure manager on three digital railway traffic management system IT procurements
Mike's recent experience includes advising:
- Rolls-Royce plc on the establishment of Rolls-Royce SMR Limited, including the negotiation of the know-how and services agreement with key investor Exelon Generation Limited, and a range of intra-group agreements to deliver the project.
- Roads & Transport Authority of Dubai on procuring an operator and maintainer for Dubai Metro and an operator for Dubai Tram, including a ground-up contract design and negotiation through to implementation
- Deutsche Bahn on a range of global rail projects, including its successful appointment for Californian High Speed
- Rolls-Royce plc on its risk and revenue sharing partnership agreements for the delivery of its new UltraFan range of engines
- UK Department for Transport on a range of rail contracting projects, including the procurement of new operators and appointment of operators of last resort
