Ed is a New Zealand-qualified Principal Associate in our Corporate Energy team. His work focuses on M&A and corporate advisory.
Ed qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2014, before moving to London in 2018. He has several years’ experience advising on M&A transactions across the energy, industrials and automotives, real estate and technology sectors.
Ed has spent a year seconded to Hynamics, part of the EDF Group, to work on the development of green hydrogen projects in the United Kingdom, and continues his work in the low-carbon hydrogen space.
Ed is involved in the entire life-cycle of transactions, from preliminary engagement with potential buyers, due diligence and disclosure, negotiation and settlement of transaction documents to closing and post-closing matters. Many of Ed's transactions have cross-border elements, so he is experienced working with local teams in multiple jurisdictions and managing local law issues.

- a secondment to Hynamics, part of the EDF Group, to work on the development of green hydrogen projects in the United Kingdom, where he advised on public subsidy and grant arrangements under the Hydrogen Production Business Model, offtake arrangements and joint ventures;
- advising Johnson Matthey plc on various transactions including the sale of its European battery materials business;
- advising Gresham House Energy Storage Fund plc on multiple acquisitions of battery storage assets;
- advising Esken Limited on the sale of Esken Renewables, a renewable energy business;
- advising Celeros Flow Technology on the sale of its filtration business to Px3 private equity;
- advising Halliburton Company on the acquisition of a high-growth company with unique intellectual property assets;
- advising the UK subsidiary of EP Power Europe on its acquisition of significant gas storage assets;
- advising the founders of Waeg Group on the sale of the group to IBM;
- advising Capita plc on various sale transactions, including five separate software businesses, a real estate consultancy business and a legal re-mortgaging business;
- dvising Solina on the its acquisitions of Zafron Foods and the Rich Sauces group; and
- advising Doncasters Group on the sale of its fabrications and forgings businesses to US private equity.
Ed also has extensive experience advising corporates of all sizes on restructuring, shareholder arrangements, governance, listed company compliance and commercial contracts.
