Samir is a Senior Associate in the litigation and dispute resolution department in our Doha office.
Samir completed the Eversheds Sutherland Middle East training contract culminating in qualification in England and Wales in the following four departments; litigation and dispute resolution, corporate, commercial and real estate.
The majority of his work during his corporate and commercial seats involved assisting the corporate team in Amman, Dubai and Saudi Arabia with undertaking legal due diligence projects for cross-border acquisitions. Samir’s work involved assisting with advising international companies on the implications of newly enacted laws within Iraq and Jordan, and conducting contract reviews for various commercial and joint venture agreements for international companies, as well as assisting with advising clients that operate within several industries in the Middle East.
During his final seat in the training contract, Samir was seconded to Cardiff, Wales for 6 months and assisted with drafting, reviewing and amending several commercial lease agreements for one of the largest companies in the world. His work also involved assisting the real estate team with a long-term freehold version project for one of the largest housebuilding companies in the UK.
Samir currently deals with a broad range of commercial disputes in the litigation and dispute resolution department with a focus on foreign investment and international arbitration disputes. The majority of this work involves assisting in the pre-dispute and disputes phases for international corporations operating within the Middle East.

A selection of Samir's experience includes:
- advising on the enforcement and recognition of foreign arbitral awards in Iraq
- part of the team that successfully advised on a multi-million international arbitration dispute between a government entity and an international company
- part of the team advising on a high-cost dispute between an automobile distributor and one of the largest automobile manufactures in the world in the pre-dispute and dispute phases
- worked on a variety of employment, oil and gas and commercial disputes for high-profile clients operating within a range of industries in the Iraq and Kurdistan region
- seconded to one of the largest telecommunications companies in the United Arab Emirates to oversee all international roaming agreements entered into with its commercial partners; acted as a liaison between the company and its counterparties by negotiating, amending and drafting provisions in the agreements
Samir authored a comprehensive legal guide to arbitration in Iraq which was published by an arbitration institution, namely Delos Dispute Resolution.
