Todd represents industry-leading companies in all aspects of state and local tax.
He has in-depth experience advising clients in a variety of industries, including the digital economy, retail, and technology sectors, with a particular emphasis on consumer products. He specializes in advising clients in highly regulated industries, such as tobacco.
Todd plays a key role in the firm’s transactions practice, serving as an adviser on the tax implications of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and restructurings. He is also highly knowledgeable about the impact of federal tax provisions on state taxation, as well as state and local excise taxes and accompanying regulatory matters.
Todd guides clients through state tax planning pre- and post-transaction; provides modeling, guidance and integration recommendations; and helps throughout the reorganization process, from drafting implementation plans to writing tax opinions. He frequently collaborates with various practice groups within the firm to provide comprehensive and integrated solutions to clients, ensuring that all aspects of their legal and regulatory needs are addressed.
In addition to tax planning, Todd represents clients in tax controversy and litigation matters, and advises on employment tax withholding, resident status and other state tax issues for clients with mobile, global workforces
