Lisa is a Partner in our IP group who advises clients on the successful protection and commercialisation of their IP.
She advises on, negotiates and drafts all types of commercial IP agreements including technology and brand licences, assignments, R&D agreements, NDAs and other commercialisation and collaboration agreements, across all sectors. She has acted for a number of companies and institutions on transactional and collaborative IP agreements of significant strategic importance, both within the UK and across jurisdictions.
A large part of Lisa’s practice is the handling of IP aspects of corporate transactions, from diligence/IP analysis through advising on risk mitigation to drafting transaction documents. She provides practical advice to clients for protecting and exploiting their IP in the context of their broader strategic aims and priorities.
Lisa also provides IP analysis and strategy advice, including on IP aspects of brand and reputation management issues. She advises numerous clients on customer-facing communications and advertising, regularly reviewing these for compliance with UK advertising codes. Lisa works closely with colleagues in our Branding and Dispute Resolution teams, to provide holistic and coordinated advice to clients’ legal and business teams, in order to mitigate risk and achieve successful marketing outcomes. She also supports clients with contracts in the broader media area, including sponsorship, endorsement, marketing, and filming agreements.
Lisa achieved Distinction in the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford and has been described as a "brand management expert" by The Legal 500 directory, which includes client feedback that “Lisa Highet has demonstrated extraordinary high-quality legal advice and she is outstanding in terms of engagement, fast response and the ability to quickly assess the business requirements while still balancing legal risks”.

Lisa's recent experience includes:
- drafting R&D and commercialisation templates and bespoke project-specific agreements for clients in the pharma, utilities and energy sectors
- risk analysis advice in relation to high profile advisertising campaigns across a variety of media and preparing practical mitigation tools and internal processes to mitigate clients' risk in this area
- acting on multi-jurisdictional High Court litigation for well-known retail sector clients regarding trade mark and design infringement claims
- IP audit advice involving analysing clients’ IP portfolios and recommending and implementing measures to address risks identified in relation to IP protection, ownership and licensing, including in relation to intra-group IP arrangements
- negotiating and drafting brand licences, sponsorship agreements and agreements with social media influencers
