Eversheds Sutherland Poland introduces new Arbitration & Complex Commercial Disputes practiceJuly 24, 2024 A new Arbitration & Complex Commercial Disputes practice began operations in the Polish office of Eversheds Sutherland in early July. New Partner Marek Jeżewski has joined the firm, along with Dominika Durchowska and Magdalena Papiernik-König, who have assumed the positions of Counsels. The new team is one of the most renowned arbitration practices in Poland and in the CEE region with years of common experience in most demanding and high stake commercial and investment disputes, specializing in international arbitration and complex commercial disputes. The newly formed Arbitration & Complex Commercial Disputes practice will support the law firm's Polish and international clients in cases before all arbitration institutions and common courts. The team will also be involved in the operations and development of the multijurisdictional arbitration practice within Eversheds Sutherland. “Today's market challenges and dynamically changing business environment require us to constantly expand our competencies and adapt to clients' expectations. For many years he served as a partner in charge of the dispute resolution practice at one of Poland's biggest law firms. In his career, he has represented clients before many arbitration institutions, such as ICSID, ICC, LCIA, SCC, SCAI, SAKIG and Lewiatan, as well as in ad hoc arbitration and before common courts. He is a recommended arbitrator at SAKIG and the Lewiatan Arbitration Court, as well as a Polish ambassador of the Vienna International Arbitration Center. He has been recognized by most prestigious legal rankings, including by Chambers Global and Legal500. For many years, he has been named Leading Individual in dispute resolution by Legal500. Dominika Durchowska specializes in dispute resolution. Dominika has more than 10 years of professional experience. She represents clients in international arbitration proceedings (commercial and investment) and court proceedings in Poland. She is also involved in obtaining Third-Party Funding for disputes and advising foreign investors on extending treaty protection to their investments. Dominika has experience in representing clients in arbitrations conducted under the major rules of the permanent arbitration courts (SCC, ICC, LCIA) and the UNCITRAL rules. Magdalena Papiernik-König specializes in investment arbitration, international commercial arbitration and complex litigation. As a globally qualified Legal Project Practitioner and Legal Process Improvement Professional, she provides clients with unique services aimed at effective dispute management and legal process improvement. Magdalena has more than 13 years of experience advising and representing clients in disputes involving various industries, including energy and natural resources, trade, infrastructure and construction, including projects based on FIDIC contract terms.
