- Successful in interim relief proceedings on behalf of a director to lift prejudgment attachments to the amount of EUR 500.000 on the basis that the claim was prima facie
- Successfully obtaining a leave for prejudgment attachment on cryptocurrency’s, as a result of which these cryptocurrency’s were successfully transferred to the client in order to repay an outstanding debt. The legal argumentation used has proved to be very progressive on the interpretation of Dutch law, since a formal legal framework regarding cryptocurrency’s is still lacking in the Netherlands
- Successfully obtaining leave for prejudgment attachment to seize written evidence as well as attachments on financial assets in order to gain security for the amount of EUR 43,000,000
- Successfully obtaining permission for prejudgment attachment on IP, patents and patent applications in ten jurisdictions worldwide, after which an amicable settlement was reached
- Successfully obtained a leave for repetitive prejudgment attachments up to twelve times within the coming six months, in order to gain security for the client in a conflict regarding IP-infringements
- Successfully obtaining a leave for prejudgment attachments within 24-hours upon request of client in order to successfully attach multiple containers with solar panels in Port of Rotterdam. Seizing the containers was key in reaching an amicable settlement, avoiding (further) international litigation
- Marije has published an article for the well-established chronicles ‘Bedrijfsjuridische Berichten’ on the topic of her progressive legal argumentation used in order to obtain leave for (prejudgment) attachment on cryptocurrency’s
- the article by Marije about seizure of crypto currencies has been cited by the Court of Amsterdam in its ruling of 13 March 2023 (ECLI:NL:RBAMS:2023:849). The Court confirms that seizure of crypto currencies is possible
Professional Activities:
- through Eversheds Sutherland, Marije was a pro bono volunteer lawyer for the Rule 39 Iniative, for the urgent protection of the human rights of asylum-seekers, refugees and migrants in Europe
