She has extensive experience defending clients against allegations of fraud and corruption, including matters involving US securities laws and regulations, environmental statutes, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Her work regularly involves parallel criminal, civil, and regulatory proceedings, including cross-border investigations.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Ellen spent several years in private practice advising clients across a range of industries. Her experience includes conducting cross-border internal investigations for multinational companies, representing Fortune 500 clients in multi-year DOJ and SEC investigations, and handling sensitive enforcement matters from inception through resolution. She has also represented clients pro bono in criminal matters in federal court.
Before entering private practice, Ellen served in the US Department of State as an Obama Administration appointee, working in the Bureau of Public Affairs and the Office of Global Women’s Issues. She also held senior communications roles in the US House of Representatives and on a presidential campaign, experience that informs her strategic approach to government investigations and crisis driven matters.
