ECCTA: UK Registrar of Companies gets new powers and corporate changesMarch 06, 2024 Far-reaching changes to the Registrar’s role and additional requirements for companies and LLPs – provisions of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (“ECCTA”) brought into force. Why should I read this?If you manage a company, are interested in the accuracy and transparency of information held by our registries or have ever had false information added to or removed from those registers, understanding these changes will be important to you. What else do I need to know about ECCTA?These new rules are part of an ongoing series of changes being introduced to tackle economic crime and improve transparency; part of an agenda to make corporates more attractive to do business with and to track and punish rogue operators. These include the introduction of a “Failure to prevent fraud” offence and the (already in force) provisions attributing senior manager liability to corporates and partnerships. More changes will be introduced over the coming months and years. Further reading on ECCTA
