He advises clients across a broad spectrum of UK and EU competition law matters, including the application of block exemption regulations, commercial agreements, information exchange, and behavioural competition issues. He has particular experience in UK merger control, foreign direct investment and national security regimes, and regularly supports clients navigating CMA investigations and settlement processes.
He also advises on international trade law, including EU and US sanctions compliance, and is closely involved in developments under the UK’s digital markets regime. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Hugh held policy and legal roles at a UK sectoral regulator, where he worked on competition enforcement and regulatory strategy.
