Petar has extensive experience in financial sector regulation and ECM/DCM transactions, advising you in an ever-changing environment.
Petar joined the firm in 2017, and has been instrumental in the firm’s banking, financing and capital markets projects in Bulgaria, providing clients with both transaction support and legal advice on various regulatory matters.
With regulatory experience spanning across the breadth of financial services legislation Petar advises financial sector clients, including some of Bulgaria’s largest banks, investment firms and asset managers, on matters, such as regulatory capital, restructuring and resolution, prudential consolidation, conduct of business, market abuse prevention, managers remuneration, and the structuring of funds, banking, and investment products.
Petar regularly provides legal opinions to large local and international banking clients on matters such as the validity and enforceability of market standard derivatives and repo documentation and complex collateralization structures.
He is also instrumental in transactional work. Petar has advised clients in some of Bulgaria’s highest profile DCM and ECM transactions over the past years and provides support to both lenders and borrowers in international financing transactions. He regularly takes part in financial M&A transactions and private equity / VC investments.
Outside of advising clients, Petar regularly speaks at seminars and trainings, and contributes to various prestigious publications, as well as to the annual Hypostat survey of the European Mortgage Federation. He has co/authored works in English, German and Bulgarian.
Petar proactively contributes to various legislative initiatives in the field of financial law and has taken part in legislative drafting projects, both as part of a project team and pro bono.
Before joining the firm in Bulgaria, he worked as student assistant at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, where he took part in academic projects in the field of white-collar crime, tutored a class in criminal law and published his first academic paper.
Petar is passionate about developing the Bulgarian capital market. In his spare time, he enjoys travel and cooking.

Petar has acted on a number of major transactions for both private and public sector clients, including:
- advising the Republic of Bulgaria as part of the Bulgarian experts team of an EBRD financed project on the transposition of the Covered Bonds Directive into Bulgarian law, including drafting of legal texts and supporting documentations, legal research, participation in inter-institutional discussions and policy dialog with stakeholders
- providing transaction support in matters of Bulgarian law to a company acting in the energy sector in Bulgaria, as issuer of US$ 435 million Guaranteed Notes
- advising to matters of Bulgarian law a major bank as issuer of a € 130 million AT1 regulatory capital programme
- working on the establishment of the first umbrella UCITS fund in Bulgaria
- structuring investment vehicles and acting as issuer counsel in the IPOs an investment company focused on technology innovation and digital economy and an investment company investing in innovation and technological companies on the Bulgarian BEAM SME growth market
- advising the public offering and admission to trading of the Tier 2 regulatory capital bonds of TBI Bank, the first Tier 2 instrument publicly offered in Bulgaria
- acting as issuer counsel in the IPO of Eleven Capital, the first IPO in Bulgaria since 2018
