The Polish office of Eversheds Sutherland strengthens its capital markets practice with Piotr Kowalik25 stycznia 2021 Piotr Kowalik joined Eversheds Sutherland Wierzbowski in mid-January, and as an Of Counsel he will support the Capital Markets and M&A team. Piotr specializes in capital markets law. He also deals with regulations concerning investment firms and financial instruments trading.He has over 10 years of experience in legal advisory for business – he advised on numerous complex local and cross-border transactions. Piotr supports clients with equity transactions on capital markets, in particular in public offerings, including cross-border ones, and public tender offers. He advised on over 20 stock exchange debuts of both Polish and foreign companies listed on the Polish stock exchange. His practice also includes advising on the fulfilment of disclosure obligations by issuers and buyers of financial instruments and relations within capital groups. He supports companies in the course of restructuring processes – he provided advice i.e. to public companies on the new issue of shares as a part of the financial and ownership restructuring. He was involved in the course of obtaining the permit to perform brokerage activity in Poland - issued by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority - by a foreign entity. The process was a part of the restructuring of the group’s operations executed in connection with Brexit. He also advised on transactions related to works of art. Piotr is a law graduate of the University of Warsaw. He also completed postgraduate studies in management at the Warsaw School of Economics. He also has master’s degree in History of Art at the University of Warsaw and is a graduate of doctoral studies at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Clients of Eversheds Sutherland Wierzbowski ever more often decide to acquire capital by issuing of shares or bonds – both the Polish and foreign ones. In our everyday practice the issues related to the functioning of capital markets and financing from such sources arise with an increasing frequency.
